Henry's injury blow for NZ

Matt Henry has been ruled out of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup due to a hamstring injury, with Kyle Jamieson named as his replacement in the NZ squad.

Four weeks to recover

Henry sustained the injury during New Zealand's match against South Africa, requiring two to four weeks of recovery. Therefore he was ruled out of the World Cup.

Stead's confidence in Jamieson

Head coach Gary Stead expressed confidence in Jamieson, who has overcome two separate back injuries. The lanky pacer was their travelling reserve for this tournament.

Henry's brilliance in the tournament

In the ongoing tournament, Henry had taken 11 wickets in seven matches at 28.63. Only Mitchell Santner has claimed more wickets for NZ (14) in the 2023 WC.

Jamieson's versatility

Jamieson has been irregular in NZ's ODI setup. He has scalped 14 wickets in 13 ODIs at an economy of 5.08. He can also provide handy contributions with the bat.

Three consecutive defeats for NZ

NZ had a brilliant start to the 2023 World Cup with four convincing wins. However, they have now suffered three consecutive defeats against India, Australia and SA.
