Taijul Islam claimed a four-wicket haul as Bangladesh dismissed New Zealand for 317 in the series opener.

The left-arm spinner operated brilliantly and returned with 4/109 in 39 overs. He was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers.

Restricted NZ's lead

Taijul's brilliance meant NZ managed 317, responding to Bangladesh's 310/10 in the first innings.

Key scalps 

Taijul drew the first blood for Bangladesh, dismissing opener Tom Latham. Centurion Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, and Ish Sodhi were his other victims.

Joy, Williamson shine 

Mahmudul Hasan Joy's 86 contributed to Bangladesh's first-innings total. Williamson's 104 powered NZ to a lead by seven runs.
