SCG honors Sachin Tendulkar: Details

Tendulkar-Lara gates unveiled

On the occasion of Sachin Tendulkar's 50th birthday, the Sydney Cricket Ground unveiled the Tendulkar-Lara gates. Tendulkar and West Indies legend Brian Lara are the only non-Australian cricketers to be commemorated with this.

Gates named after legends

The gates at SCG named after the Master Blaster and Lara are placed between the Member's Pavilion's away dressing room and the Noble Bradman Messenger Stand.

Pakistan to walk through the gates  

Pakistan are likely to be the first visitors to walk through the Lara-Tendulkar Gates early next year in a Test match against the Aussies. McGeoch, Mather unveil the gates

Sachin at SCG gate

This will be the first time that Tendulkar will have his name etched in stone at a famous venue overseas. Don Bradman, Arthur Morris, and Alan Davidson are the other names to have gates named after them at SCG.

Tendulkar, Lara at SCG

Tendulkar and Lara have impressive records at the SCG, with Tendulkar averaging 157 in Tests and scoring 785 runs. Meanwhile, Lara scored 384 runs in Tests and amassed 270 runs in ODIs.

Sachin's epic 241*

Tendulkar's second-highest Test score of 241* was recorded at the SCG in 2004, where he refrained from playing the cover drive to negotiate out-swinging deliveries.
