Rohit races to 2,000 Test runs as opener

Rohit reaches milestone

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 80 off 143 balls in the second Test against West Indies, completing 2,000 Test runs as an opener. His knock included nine boundaries and two sixes.

Rohit Sharma scored 80 and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 57 in an 139-run opening partnership against West Indies. Rohit fell short of his second successive ton.

Rohit Sharma got his maiden Test cap in 2013. He, however, struggled as a middle-order batter. His performance improved after becoming an opener in 2019.

Rohit has scored 2,035 runs in 25 Tests as an opener, averaging 53.55. Only Karunaratne (2,191 at 52.16) has scored more Test runs while opening since Rohit's promotion.
