Rahim slams third Test fifty against NZ

Rahim's solid 67

Mushfiqur Rahim scored a solid 67 off 116 balls against New Zealand in the Test series opener in Sylhet. This was his third Test fifty against NZ and 27th fifty in this format.

Tackling NZ's spin trio

Arriving at 116/3, Rahim expertly tackled the NZ spin trio and participated in an important 98-run stand with centurion Najmul Hossain Shanto. He was later dismissed by Ajaz Patel.

Rahim's 5,500 runs milestone

Earlier this year, Rahim became the first Bangladesh batter to reach 5,500 Test runs, now totalling 5,632 runs from 87 Tests at an average of 38.31 (50s: 27, 100s: 10).

27th test fifty

This was his 27th Test fifty and third against New Zealand. He also owns 10 Test tons and holds the record of Joint-second-most Test centuries for Bangladesh along with Tamim Iqbal.

How has the match proceeded?

The Tigers posted 310 in the first innings, with NZ responding with 317, taking a slender lead. However, Bangladesh crossed the 300-run mark again in the third innings, having scored 338.

Rahim surpasses 500 Test runs against NZ

The veteran wicket-keeper batter has compiled 521 runs against NZ in 10 Test matches at 34.73. Rahim is Bangladesh's fourth-highest run-scorer against the Kiwis.
