Paul Stirling scored his first Test century in the second Test against Sri Lanka. His knock helped Ireland post their highest score in Test cricket of 492 runs.

Stirling limped off the ground on Day 1 but he returned to the crease on Day 2 to slam his maiden Test century and also helped Ireland post a big total.

Third Irishman to score a Test ton

Stirling became the third Irish player to score a Test century. He has also scored a century in all three formats of the game, following Kevin O'Brien.

Highest Test partnership for Ireland

Andrew Balbirnie and Stirling's partnership of 115 runs on Day 1 became the highest partnership for Ireland in Test cricket.

Stirling's consistency

Stirling has been a consistent performer for Ireland since his international debut in 2008. He has scored 5,259 runs and 3,275 runs in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
