Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen clinched a bronze medal at the 2023 Asian Games after losing to Thailand's Rakshat Chuthamat in the women's 50kg semi-finals.
Despite her exceptional performance in the semi-final, Nikhat lost the bout by 3-2 split decision. She started off with a win in the first round before losing her way.
Earlier, Nikhat secured her Paris Olympics berth for next year by dominating Jordanian opponent Nassar Hanan in the quarter-finals.
Nikhat is only the fifth Indian woman boxer to win gold at the World Championships and became the second Indian female boxer to own more than one gold after Mary Kom.
Nikhat also claimed the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and earned a bronze at the 2019 Asian Boxing Championships in Bangkok.
