Retirement reports refuted

Six-time World champion M. C. Mary Kom has denied the reports regarding her retirement from boxing, stating she has been misquoted.

Defying age limit

Despite being 41 and surpassing the International Boxing Association's age limit of 40 for elite competitions, Mary remains determined to continue in the sport.

Focused on fitness

"I still have hunger of achieving (laurels) in sports but age limit in Olympics doesn't allow me to participate though I can carry on with my sport," she clarified.

Impressive boxing record

In 2019, Mary became the first boxer to win eight medals in the World Championships and has an impressive record in the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships.

Owns many national awards 

She has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 2020.
