Joe Root is one of the best Test batters of this generation and many believe he could surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record of 15,921 runs as the highest run-getter in Tests.

10th-highest run-scorer in Tests

Root becomes the 10-highest run-scorer in Tests. He is only behind Tendulkar, Cook, Ponting, Kallis, Dravid, Sangakkara, Lara, Chanderpaul and Jayawardene.

30 Test centuries!

Root is a top Test batter with 30 tons and 58 fifties. No other batter has scored 9,000 Test runs since his debut in December 2012. Smith is the only active player with 32 tons.

Leading run-scorer in WTC

Joe Root has amassed 11,178 Test runs at an average of 50.57. With 3,749 runs at 51.35, he is the highest run-scorer in the history of the World Test Championship.

Root's elite Ashes double

Root recently completed 20 wickets in the Ashes. Only Wally Hammond and Australia's Warwick Armstong are the other two players with 2,000 runs and 20 wickets in the Ashes.
