Gill doubtful for Australia WC match

Gill's dengue diagnosis 

Team India dealt a major blow as Shubman Gill reportedly tested positive for dengue, making him doubtful for Sunday's World Cup opener against Australia.

Uncertain to take part 

As per The Indian Express, Gill's condition is being monitored and a call on his availability will be taken on Friday.

Kishan is likley replacement 

If unavailable, Ishan Kishan may partner Rohit Sharma at the top, while KL Rahul would continue at number five.

Gill's phenomenal run 

Gill, the only batter with over 1,000 ODI runs in 2023, has had a phenomenal year, scoring 1,230 runs in 20 ODIs at an average of 72.35.

Second-best batting average in ODIs

Gill's current ODI average of 66.10 is the second-highest among batters with at least 1,000 runs. He is only behind the former Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate (67).
