India has reached the ODI World Cup final for the fourth time, equaling England. Only Australia are ahead in this regard with eight appearances.

Maiden title 1983

They clinched their maiden title in 1983 against West Indies and won again in 2011 against Sri Lanka, becoming the first team to lift the trophy on home soil.

Record final scores

India hold the record for conceding the highest total in a WC final (359/2 against Australia in 2003) and the highest successful chase (275 against Sri Lanka in 2011).

Gambhir's top score

Gautam Gambhir's 97 in 2011 is the highest individual score by an Indian in a final, followed by MS Dhoni's unbeaten 91 in the same game.

Amarnath's best bowling

Mohinder Amarnath's 3/12 against West Indies in 1983 remains the best bowling performance by an Indian in a final.
