Warner could lead the Aussies soon

Warner could return to captaincy soon

Cricket Australia (CA) has amended the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. As a result, opening batter David Warner might lead Australia in white-ball cricket soon.

A major relief for Warner!

According to CA, Players can "apply to have long-term sanctions modified". This means Warner can apply against his lifetime leadership ban handed by CA in the wake of the 2018 ball-tampering saga.

Captaincy

Warner has led Australia sporadically in white-ball cricket, with the Kangaroos losing just one of 12 matches. He was unbeaten in his last six internationals as captain. He last led in February 2018.

Ball-tampering scandal

Warner was one of three victims alongside Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft in the ball-tampering saga in South Africa in 2018. Warner had received a lifetime leadership ban owing to his involvement.
