India's premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC T20 WC. The BCCI confirmed the news, stating that the decision was taken after consulting the specialists.
Bumrah suffered a back injury that ruled him out of the Asia Cup. However, he recovered in time for the Australia series. He played the rain-curtailed second T20I and the decider.
Bumrah suffered a stress fracture on his back in 2019 post the WI tour. Following the injury, Bumrah endured a lengthy spell on the sidelines, missing home series against South Africa and Bangladesh.
As per reports, veteran Mohammed Shami is likely to replace Bumrah for the T20 WC. Lately, Shami missed the SA and Australia T20Is after testing COVID-19 positive.
Bumrah has snapped up 70 scalps since debuting against Australia in 2016. He averages 20.22 and has an economy of 6.62.
