Australia name squad for NZ T20I series

Australia name strong T20I lineup

Australia have announced a strong line-up for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, starting February 21. The Kangaroos will feature in three T20Is and two tests in their NZ tour.

Mitchell Marsh leads the team

Mitchell Marsh will captain the team, with senior players like Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Travis Head returning.

Matt Short's included despite injury

Matthew Short is included in the squad, despite a recent hamstring injury during the second ODI against West Indies. The spin-bowling all-rounder will add depth and variety to the squad.

Nathan Ellis is the fourth pacer

Nathan Ellis joins the Australian T20I team as the fourth pacer. He was selected over Jason Behrendorff and Sean Abbott, who are on standby.

Chairman of Selectors George Bailey emphasized the importance of shaping the T20 World Cup squad through these games. He will also keep an eye on the players during the IPL.

Green excluded from the T20I squad

Cameron Green is excluded from the T20I squad as Bailey highlighted that the selectors want the all-rounder to focus on red-ball cricket.
