ACB bars trio from franchise cricket

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has barred Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Fazalhaq Farooqi from playing franchise cricket for two years.

Prioritizing personal interests

The trio prioritized personal interests over national responsibility, leading to delayed 2024 annual central contracts and denied NOCs.

Contract release requested

The players requested release from their contracts and permission to play in franchise tournaments.

Disciplinary measures imposed

As a result, the ACB took disciplinary measures against them, denying them NOCs.

Ineligibility period set

Starting January 1, 2024, they will be ineligible for central contracts for one year. They will be unable to play franchise cricket for two years.

Prominent cricketers sanctioned

Mujeeb, Naveen, and Farooqi were part of Afghanistan's 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup squad and are prominent figures in franchise cricket, including the Indian Premier League.
