WhatsApp working on new Android feature

By Akash Pandey

1

Scenario

WhatsApp is working on a new feature for Android users, which will allow sending audio messages that will be playable just once. The facility will roll out to beta testers in the coming days.

2

Privacy

WhatsApp rolls out new features to improve user experience and stay ahead of rivals like Telegram. The company's plan to introduce single-play audio messages will enhance privacy on the app.

3

Feature

Once a user enables the single-play option, the recipients of the audio messages will be unable to save, forward, or record them. It is nearly similar to "view once" for photos/videos.

4

Availability

WhatsApp will soon roll out the single-play audio messages for the Android beta bearing version ID 2.23.7.8. The broader rollout of the feature will happen once the testing phase has been completed.

5

More

WhatsApp users will be able to send 60-second video messages in the coming days. This should not be confused with video media files as unlike them, you will be unable to save or forward messages.
