WhatsApp Channels is a one-way broadcast tool. Admins of Channels will be able to send texts, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. The platform has added a new 'Updates' tab for Channels.

How to join?
Users can join WhatsApp Channels using direct links sent via chats, emails, or online posts. A "searchable directory" is also underway to help users find different channels, hobbies, and more.

Security
According to WhatsApp, privacyis key to the Channel experience. The app will store only 30 days of Channel history. Admins will have the option to block screenshots and forwards too.

Scenario
WhatsApp Channels are notend-to-end encrypted. However, the company is exploring the option of making some Channels like that of NGOs or health organizations end-to-end encrypted over time.
