WhatsApp adds new option on Android beta

New feature

WhatsApp now allows users, on the Android beta version, to add custom descriptions to forwarded images, videos, GIFs, and documents.

Add context to media

The feature lets users add a self-framed description to forwarded media, providing more context. The description will be sent as a separate message.

Existing feature

Until now, WhatsApp only allowed users to keep or remove the default caption while forwarding media or documents.

Self-explanatory message

With the new feature, when you select a contact to forward media, a box with a text caption entry field will appear at the bottom.

Availability

The new feature is a part of the Android beta update 2.23.8.22. It is currently available only to a small number of beta testers.
