Orbit-raising maneuver

Chandrayaan-3 Moon mission has successfully completed its second orbit-raising maneuver, placing the spacecraft in a 41,603x226km orbit.

Operations

Earth-bound maneuvers are performed to help Chandrayaan-3 attain the required altitude to escape Earth's gravitational pull and start on its journey to the Moon.

Chandrayaan-3

ISRO successfully completed Chandrayaan-3's first orbit-raising maneuver on July 15, a day after the mission's launch.

Target destination

Chandrayaan-3 is planned to reach lunar orbit on August 3. After this, the mission will attempt a soft landing on the Moon on August 23.

Milestone

If successful, Chandrayaan-3 will make India the fourth nation to pull off a soft landing and roving on the lunar surface.
