Lord Venkateswara temple inAndhra Pradesh's Tirupati district has introduced a facial recognition system. The service has been introduced by the managing trust body Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Secure entrance monitoring
The system will recognize devotees at the time of entrance and they will be monitored by 3,000 cameras. It will help in curbing impersonation and finding missing persons.

Usage
The tech will be used at Sarvadarshanam, laddu disbursal counters, tokenless darshan, caution deposit refunds and accommodation allotment systems.

Limit pilgrims' exploitation
The facial recognition system at Tirupati Temple will limit free darshan to once a month to prevent overcrowding and exploitation of pilgrims by touts and middlemen.

Alert for re-visitors
The facial recognition tech willalert if the same person comesfor a second visit and will store pictures in a data bank to avoid impersonation. Legal action might be taken against violators.
