Speed
Originating from Halley's Comet, the Orionids are known for their speed, traveling at about 66km/s and leaving long-lasting trails.

Origin
Orionids is the second meteor shower to be linked with Halley's Comet. The first is the Eta Aquariids which peaks in May.

Radiant
The radiant, or the point in the sky where the Orionids' meteors appear to originate, is located near the constellation Orion. However, do note meteors will be visible all over the sky.

Viewing tips
To witness the Orionids, find a dark location with minimal light pollution. This year, the Moon's phase will not obstruct your viewing of the meteors.
