NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has completed one year of performing scientific investigations. Here are some of Webb's top discoveries.
2
Stephan's Quintet
Webb revealed never-seen details of "Stephan's Quintet," a grouping of five galaxies. The telescope spotted millions of young stars in this grouping.
3
Exploring Phantom Galaxy
Webb shed light on the filamentous structures of dust and gas emanating from the Phantom Galaxy's bright core. This spiral galaxy lies in the constellation Pisces.
4
Rare sights
Webb has provided several rare glimpses of the cosmos in the past year. One such event was the sight of a dying star, right before it headed for a supernova explosion.
5
Exoplanet
In January this year, Webb confirmed its first exoplanet. Called LHS 475 b, the planet measures about 99% of Earth's diameter.
