New TRAI rule

The new rule imposed by the Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) will put an end to spam calls and messages.

The new regulation mandates that all telecom companies must use AI-based spam filters for calls and messaging services.

The telcos have also been asked to stop making promotional calls from 10-digit mobile numbers, which are frequently used by fraudsters and spammers.

TRAI has also asked telcos to introduce a caller ID option to display the name and contact number of callers.

Telcos including Airtel and Reliance Jio have agreed to implement AI-based spam filters in response to new TRAI regulations.
