NASA states that April will be an excellent month for skywatchers, with various astronomical events including the Lyrid meteor shower and great views of the Moon, Mercury, as well as Venus.

What about Mercury?
Mercury will come into view today and shall reach its highest visible point on April 11. In the Northern Hemisphere, glance low in the western sky soon after sunset.

Venusian views
Using binoculars, skywatchers can see Venus next to the Pleiades star cluster on April 11, in the western sky. NASA claimed it will make the sky look like a "time machine."

Lunar movements
Skywatchers can observe the Moon near Saturn, the crescent Moon above Venus, and the pairing of the Moon and Mars in April. The new Moon phase will occur on April 20.

See the Lyrid meteors
The Lyrid meteor shower will peak on April 23. It will be best viewed between midnight and dawn, away from city lights and looking slightly away from the star Vega.
