Meta Threads: How to set up your account

Threads

Meta's Threads, a standalone platform based on Instagram, is now available globally to both Android and iOS users.

Signing up

Look for 'Threads, an Instagram app' in your phone's app store. Once you have downloaded it, you can create a profile using your Instagram account.

Details

Your username on Threads will be the same as your Instagram handle and it cannot be changed. Threads will also port the same accounts you follow on Instagram.

Posts

Threads app allows posts that are 500 characters long with up to 10 photos. You can also share links and videos for up to five minutes.

Missing features

Currently, Threads lacks a few features seen on Instagram. It does not offer DMs and there is no "close friends" section as well.
