ISRO's space tourism module: Highlights

ISRO is working on a space tourism module that will be functional by 2030, with a single ticket estimating Rs. 6 crores. However, officials claim tickets will be available at "competitive prices."

ISRO's upcoming module may include either sub-orbital or orbital space travel. The difference between both is the speed at which the space vehicle is traveling.

Collaboration

ISRO is expected to collaborate with private firms for the development of the space travel module via the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe).

Dennis Tito was the world's first space tourist, who spent a week on the International Space Station. He flew aboard Russia's Soyuz spacecraft in 2021, and the trip cost him $20 million.
