ISRO's Aditya-L1 mission has received an important instrument called the Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) for carrying out observations of the Sun.
2
Significance
Aditya-L1 will mark a major milestone as it is the first space-based Indian mission to study the Sun.
3
Location
Aditya-L1 spacecraft will be positioned about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, at the Lagrange point 1 (L1), to provide real-time information on solar activities.
4
SUIT
SUIT will be able to capture full disk images of the Sun in the 2,000-4,000 angstrom wavelength range, which has never been obtained before.
5
Launch timeline
Aditya-L1 will be equipped with seven other payloads for performing science investigations. The mission is expected to launch around mid-August.
