Instagram users can now download Reels

Download Reels

Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to download Reels. They can share it outside Instagram too.

Only public accounts

Users can only download Reels from public accounts. The feature is currently available to a select group of users in the US.

How-to

Users have to open a Reel they like. Tap the 'share' icon. Eligible users will find a new 'Download' option. Click that to download the Reel.

Privacy

Instagram's private account Reels cannot be downloaded, and public accounts can turn off downloading through Account Settings, similar to TikTok's policy.

Watermarking

Downloaded Reels will have the Instagram logo and the name of the account. This is similar to what TikTok and YouTube have done.
