Instagram adds reels download feature

Feature

Instagram now allows users worldwide to download public reels directly onto their devices. The feature was initially made available in the US in June.

Download

Downloaded reels will display an Instagram watermark, including the account name. To download, tap the share button and select the download option.

Privacy control

Account owners can disable downloads for their reels by adjusting their privacy settings.

Restrictions

Private accounts' reels cannot be downloaded unless the owner changes their privacy setting to public.

Audio

Downloaded reels with a licensed audio clip will be silent. Only reels with original audio tracks will have sound in the downloaded clip.
