India to send astronauts to Moon by 2040

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced ambitious space plans including setting up an Indian space station by 2035 and a lunar astronaut mission by 2040.

These goals were discussed during a meeting to review the progress of the Gaganyaan mission and the upcoming demonstration flight of the test vehicle.

Modi also encouraged scientists to work on interplanetary missions, such as the Venus Orbiter Mission and Mars Lander.

The Department of Space will now create a detailed Moon exploration roadmap, involving Chandrayaan missions, Next Generation Launch Vehicles, and human-centric laboratories.
