PIVOT is based on a machine-learning model that can classify genes into oncogenes, tumor suppressing genes, or neutral genes.
How does PIVOT work?
It makes its prediction by utilizing information on mutation, expression of genes, and changes in the biological network due to an altered gene expression.
Knowledge model
PIVOT can currently predict three kinds of cancer: Breast Invasive Carcinoma, Colon Adenocarcinoma, and Lung Adenocarcinoma. Researchers plan to add more to the AI’s knowledge model.
Personalized treatment plan
The PIVOT tool will also help in devising personalized strategies for tackling cancer in individuals.
