Requirements
You need to generate a 16-digit Virtual ID before proceeding to lock your Aadhaar card. Head to the official myAadhaar portal, click on "Generate Virtual ID," and enter the required details.

Lock aadhaar card
Visit the "Lock/Unlock Aadhaar" option on the myAadhaar portal, and proceed by clicking on "Next." Now, enter the required details. Your biometric details will get disabled post-clicking on submit.

How to unlock?
To resume biometric authentication, you need to first unlock your card. Visit the myAadhaar portal, click on "Lock/Unlock Aadhaar," checkmark "Unlock Aadhaar," and enter the needed details.

Virtual ID is mandatory
Only your Virtual ID has the ability to lock/unlock your Aadhaar. If you have misplaced it after locking your biometrics, retrieve it using "Retrieve VID" on the "VID Generator" page.
