Gmail mobile app gets translation feature

Google is introducing native email translation on its Gmail app for Android and iOS, a feature that was previously exclusive to the web version.

Instant translation

When the app detects an email in the non-default language, a translation banner appears at the top of the email, allowing instant translation.

Customizable settings

Users can view original text or set Gmail to automatically translate specific languages.

Access

The translation feature is accessible through the three-dot menu at the bottom of an email if the banner doesn't show up.

Availability

The feature is currently available for Android users. iOS users will receive the feature on August 21.
