Chandrayaan-3 achieved a world-first soft landing near the Moon's south pole, and ISRO has now confirmed the deployment of the Pragyan rover.

Lunar surface experiments

The rover's deployment marks another crucial step for the lunar mission. The rover will now conduct experiments related to assessing the lunar surface's mineral composition.

Vikram lander payloads

The Vikram lander will also perform investigations with its three onboard payloads. The rover's investigations include scanning for moonquakes.

Lunar south pole

Chandrayaan-3 aims to further investigate the presence of water at the Moon's south pole region, which could have significant implications for future lunar missions.

Mission duration

With a successful soft landing, India becomes the fourth country to have a presence on the Moon. The mission will last for one lunar day, equivalent to 14 Earth days.
