Stop believing these yoga myths

Yoga is not a workout

If you think you won't burn calories and tone your muscles during a yoga session, you are wrong. However, it is also a mental exercise that keeps your body and mind fit.

Yoga is only for women

While there is no doubt that more women prefer yoga, men are also taking a liking to yoga. There are several male yoga professionals who practice it and train others too.

Yoga belongs to a certain religion

Yoga includes chanting and mantras but is only due to its roots in India. It is rather a spiritual activity that connects you to a non-sectarian higher power.

Yoga is the same and there's nothing new to learn

Yoga has multiple forms like Hatha, Bikram, Kundalini, Yin, etc. These practices further have a plethora of asanas. Hence, no, yoga is not the same.

You need to be slim and flexible to do yoga

You don't have to be fit or skinny to perform yoga as it is about self-acceptance. Being flexible is an outcome of practicing yoga and not a prerequisite.
