No more vacation-induced plant woes

By Apurva P

1

Pre-vacation watering

Before leaving on vacation, water your plants and place them in a cool, shaded area to prevent rapid evaporation.

2

Wick watering system

For longer trips, consider installing a wick watering system using a long cotton rope dipped in water to keep plants moist.

3

Create mini greenhouse bags

Enclose plants in clear plastic bags to create a mini greenhouse, retaining hydration while providing indirect sunlight.

4

Note the plant placement

Group plants based on their watering needs and move sensitive ones away from direct sunlight. Use shade cloth to protect delicate plants from intense sunlight and reduce water loss.

5

Get a plant sitter

Ask someone you trust to water your plants while you're away, ensuring they know the location of supplies and water sources.
