Hydroponic methods you can try at home

By Apurva P

1

Drip system

Drip system ensures continuous circulation of a nutrient solution in hydroponics using a timer, where plants absorb the solution and the excess is reused.

2

Deep water culture

A DWC system uses a reservoir filled with nutrient solution and water to provide a steady supply of water and nutrients to plants hung over it, with air pumps delivering oxygen to roots.

3

Kratky method

Kratky method is a passive hydroponic technique that grows plants without extra water, nutrients, oxygen, or electric pumps. It's suitable for small-scale home growers and commercial food production.

4

Nutrient film technique

The hydroponic system consists of a reservoir with an air pump for oxygenation, a timed water pump to push water through the canal, and a main reservoir for solution reuse.

5

Wick system

The wick system uses a rope or felt to carry water and nutrients to plant roots suspended in a growing media, with a constant supply from a reservoir beneath.
