Conjunctivitis: Foods for healing

By Anujj Trehaan

1

Wheat germ and vegetable oils

Wheat germ and vegetable oils have vitamin E, which protects the eyes from free radicals. The antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin reduce oxidative stress in the eyes.

2

Chia seeds and flaxseeds

Chia seeds and flaxseeds have omega-3 fatty acids. These acids help maintain proper eye function, reduce inflammation, and eliminate the discomfort induced by conjunctivitis.

3

Leafy greens

Leafy greens, especially kale and spinach, are blessed with a good amount of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), that can activate the antioxidants in your eyes.

4

Walnuts

Walnuts are known to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the eyes, promoting eye health and guarding against conjunctivitis as they are loaded with vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids.

5

Fatty fish

Fatty fish offerings like salmon, tuna, mackerel, trout, and sardines are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids that can help tackle inflammation and support eye health.
