'Varisu' vs 'Thunivu' box office

The Tamil film industry witnessed one of the biggest clashes on Wednesday as Thalapathy Vijay's 'Varisu' and Ajith Kumar's 'Thunivu' collided with each other at the box office.

Both Kumar and Vijay have a massive fan following in Tamil Nadu. Soon after the films premiered, fans held celebrations. Per reports, 'Varisu' earned more than 'Thunivu' on the first day.

Numbers

Vijay's film earned Rs. 26.5cr on Day 1 in India while Kumar's movie collected Rs. 26cr. Given the close fight, it will be interesting to see which movie performs better on the first weekend.

Home turf

Although 'Varisu' collected more than 'Thunivu' in India, the latter earned more in Tamil Nadu. Per reports, 'Thunivu' collected Rs. 18 crore in the state, beating 'Varisu' by a crore.
