Timeline of Jiah Khan suicide case

Intro

India was rocked by the suicide of actor Jiah Khan in 2013. Her suicide note revealed a troubled relationship with her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi. Revisit the case before the final verdict on Friday.

Pancholi's arrest

Pancholi was charged with abetment to suicide and arrested by Mumbai Police a few days after the death of Khan. Her suicide note said he "cheated" on her and left her "broken."

Soon after, CBI came onboard

In 2014, owing to Jiah's mother Rabia's requests, CBI came onboard. In 2015, the CBI filed a supplementary charge sheet against Pancholi alleging abetment of suicide.

Open letter

Rabia wrote to PM Modi in 2017, requesting him to intervene. She also claimed that CBI's independent forensic opinion is inconclusive.

Recent

In 2021, the case was taken over by a Special CBI Court. Special Judge AS Sayyad heard the closing arguments on April 20 and the verdict will come on Friday morning.
