Indian films banned in Gulf countries

Intro

Indian movies enjoy a huge fan following in the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries. Over the years, however, there have been many Indian movies that have been banned there.

'Fighter'

'Fighter,' which hit theaters on Thursday, has been banned in the Gulf region, sans UAE. A report claimed that it will only be released in UAE with PG15 classification.

'Beast'

Nelson Dilipkumar's 2022 film 'Beast,' which was originally made in the Tamil language, was banned in Gulf countries including Qatar and Kuwait.

'The Kashmir Files'

'The Kashmir Files' also faced a few bans in the Gulf region. Countries like Kuwait decided to not release it, while the UAE eventually lifted its ban a few weeks after the movie was released.

'Bell Bottom'

Rajeev M Tewari's 2021 title 'Bell Bottom,' featuring Akshay Kumar, was banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar for allegedly distorting historical facts.

'Kurup'

Srinath Rajendra's Malayalam film 'Kurup,' a biopic on fugitive Sukumara Kurup, was banned from releasing in Kuwait due to its portrayal of an Indian fugitive seeking refuge in a GCC nation.
