Early life and career
Somin's journey commenced when she auditioned for DSP Media and successfully cleared multiple audition rounds. At the age of 14, she became a trainee.

Somin's debut in Puretty
Girl group Puretty marked Somin's debut as a member, which was established in South Korea but was primarily active in Japan.

KARA project
Post the disbandment of Puretty in 2014, Somin took part in the KARA Project—a show aimed at identifying members of the established girl group KARA.

Why she left the girl group April?
Shortly after the KARA project—in 2015—Somin joined another girl group, April. She left the group within months of joining to focus on her studies.
