Dr. Kafeel Khan thanks SRK for 'Jawan'

Intro

Dr. Kafeel Khan, ex-assistant professor at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, has praised Shah Rukh Khan and has hailed him as a "beacon of hope." Notably, a sub-plot in 'Jawan' is inspired by Dr. Khan.

Khan's background

In 2017, 63 children at BRD died when the oxygen supply ran out, and the govt. was blamed for dues' non-payment. Dr. Khan bought 250 cylinders but was jailed for 'dereliction of duty.' He was acquitted in 2019.

Letter

In his heartfelt letter, Dr. Khan praised SRK for "[his] extraordinary commitment to using cinema as a means to address critical socio-political issues." He added that he would like to meet SRK and Atlee.

Lamented the lack of justice

Dr. Khan added, "It was heartening to witness the real culprit of 'The Gorakhpur Hospital Tragedy' got caught, though sadly in real life the real culprits are roaming free."

His book

Dr. Khan's book, 'The Gorakhpur Hospital Tragedy,' details his first-hand experiences and he believes the movie's plot echoes those events.
