Are Kannadigas miffed with Rashmika Mandanna?

Controversy

Rashmika Mandanna is one of the top South Indian actors, who has also managed to set a strong foot in Bollywood. However, she is repeatedly getting caught in controversies with Kannadigas.

What happened?

In an interview, Mandanna spoke about her debut film. Without mentioning any names, she said "production house" using air quotes. Many took it as insulting Sandalwood.

Context

Why were Kannadigas angry? This is because Mandanna made her acting debut with Rishab Shetty-directed Kannada movie 'Kirik Party.' Many netizens opined she is not grateful for her roots.

Retaliation

Shetty was recently asked to choose female actors for his next film in an interview. Making air quotes, Shetty said, "I don't like such type of actors" and picked stars apart from Mandanna.

Previous issues

Before this, Mandanna drew flak by calling 'KGF' star Yash, "Mr. show off." She was criticized for not dubbing the Kannada version of 'Pushpa: The Rise' even though she's Kannadiga.
