UPI Lite goes live on PhonePe

UPI Lite launched

PhonePe has launched UPI Lite two months after Paytm introduced it. UPI Lite is designed to make small transactions convenient and more reliable.

Smaller transactions

UPI Lite is for transactions up to Rs. 200. It uses an on-device wallet, eliminating the need for entering a UPI pin and reducing payment failures.

How-to

Users can enable UPI Lite on Phonpe without KYC authentication. Go to home screen and tap UPI Lite -> Enter amount -> Select bank account -> Enter UPI pin

Wallet

PhonPe allows users to add Rs. 2,000 to the Lite account. Users will receive transaction history from banks via SMS.

Improving efficiency

UPI Lite will reduce the dependency of low-value transactions on core UPI infrastructure, allowing the system to handle higher-value payments.
