Uber to fire 200 employees

Uber cuts jobs

Uber has announced its decision to lay off 200 employees in a cost-cutting move, marking the company's second round of layoffs this year.

Affected division

Uber is cutting around 35% of its recruitment division staff, which forms less than 1% of its global workforce of 32,700.

Flat headcount

The layoffs align with Uber's overall cost-cutting strategy. In May, the company announced its decision to keep the headcount flat in 2023.

Earlier this year, Uber axed 150 staffers from its freight division. The company is streamlining operations to achieve profitability this year.

Uber rival Lyft has fired over 1,700 employees. The company recently laid off 1,072 staffers or 26% of its workforce.
