1

Talcum-caused cancer settlement

Johnson & Johnson has offered $8.9 billion to settle lawsuits over its talc-based baby powder, which plaintiffs claim caused cancer.

2

Floodgates opened

In 2009, Deane Berg filed a suit against J&J, claiming their talc-based products caused her ovarian cancer. Her victory led to several similar suits.

3

Concealed asbestos risk

Johnson & Johnson knew about the asbestos contamination in their talc-based products for several decades, according to a Reuters investigation.

4

Over 25 years

Johnson & Johnson will pay out the settlement amount over the next 25 years through a subsidiary that has filed for bankruptcy.

5

No wrongdoing

Johnson & Johnson still maintains it did no wrong. The firm's VP of litigation said plaintiffs' claims lack "scientific merit."
