India has 68 unicorns

India ranks third in the world with 68 unicorns, according to the Hurun Global Unicorn Index 2023, showcasing a robust start-up ecosystem.

Unicorns soar high

The number of unicorns in India increased from 54 to 68, up by 14. Since pre-COVID, unicorns in the country have increased by 47.

Indian unicorns abroad

Indian entrepreneurs have co-founded 70 unicorns outside India, with 64 of them located in the US, according to the report.

Most valuable

India's most valuable unicorn is BYJU'S, the world's largest edtech company, valued at $22 billion. It is followed by Swiggy and Dream11, both valued at $8 billion.

Global

ByteDance is the world's most valuable unicorn with a $200 billion valuation, followed by SpaceX. OpenAI is 17th with a $17 billion increase in valuation.
