Amazon to pay $30M to FTC

Amazon reaches settlement

Amazon has agreed to pay $30 million to settle two Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lawsuits over privacy violations.

Alexa and child privacy

Amazon's Alexa has been accused of violating child privacy laws by the FTC over the company's handling of kids' voice data and geolocation.

Amazon denied accusations

Amazon paid $25 million to settle the lawsuit against Alexa. The company, however, denied the claims made by the regulator.

FTC accused Ring

The FTC accused Ring, Amazon's video surveillance maker, of allowing employees and contractors access to customers' sensitive video content.

Ring to pay $5.8mn

Ring will pay $5.8 million to settle the lawsuit. The company will also implement a 20-year data security program.
