Delhi pushes for electric bike taxi

Electric two-wheeler goal

Delhi's new Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme 2023 aims to replace bike taxis with electric two-wheelers by 2030.

Mandatory licensing

Cab aggregators must obtain a license within three months, with a five-year validity and annual fees waived for electric vehicles.

Incentivizing electrification

Vehicles less than two years old receive a 50% rebate, marking the first phase-wise electrification of bike taxi operators.

Surge pricing regulation

The government in Delhi also plans to regulate surge pricing in order to ensure enhanced public safety and convenience.

Emission reduction

This initiative supports India's net zero emissions target by 2070 and addresses Delhi's pollution from vehicular emissions.
